My sixth stop lands me in a land of misty mountains and colorful hill tribes. Located 435 miles north of Bangkok in a valley on the banks of the Ping River, Chiang Mai was founded in 1296. It is the former seat of the Lanna kingdom and is another laid back city with nearby sprawling views.
I’m personally looking forward to the lush green countryside and pristine rainforests dotted with churning waterfalls and peaceful country villages. Similar to Hanoi, Chiang Mai is a place where past and the present seamlessly merge with modern buildings standing side by side with venerable temples. This month is sure to be an experience all its own.
