Hanoi, Vietnam

Change of Continent, Change of Vibe.

Now, I’m off to Asia! First stop: Hanoi, Vietnam. Located in the Red River delta of northern Vietnam, Hanoi looks to be a vast change of scenery from my previous four months. Well—kinda… In 1873 Hanoi was actually conquered by the French, which has partly led to it’s nickname of the "Paris of the East,” a reference to its tree-fringed boulevards, more than two dozen lakes and thousands of French colonial-era buildings.

Beyond that, however, the similarities drop off sharply. Vietnam's capital is one of the most ancient capitals in the world, where ancient pagodas stand side-by-side with unique museums near the city centre. Its streets buzz with scooters and merchants calling out their wares. This walk-friendly city is a welcome change of pace, and looks to be a place of personal recharge and refocus.
