I'm on a boat!! (Actually, probably not)
Stop #3 on the tour lands us in another city of juxtaposed landscapes. Located on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea, Split’s dramatic coastal mountains spread over a central peninsula, sharply contrasting the turquoise waters of the Adriatic. As Croatia's second largest city, Split is one of the Adriatic's most vibrant port cities. This is part of the reason that it's largely known in the US for its inclusion in Yacht Week.
Like Belgrade, the nightlife and food/cafe scene is already worth the price of admission. However, I’m extra-excited for this stop because, more than most other stops on this list Split residents are less interested in high culture than they are in sports and the outdoors. While outdoor activities are on tap for many other stops on the tour, this city’s love of organized/team sports stands out above the rest. I’m looking forward to shooting hoops and playing some sand volleyball on one of the many beautiful beaches while I’m here!
