Default to Ownership

This post is part of a series explaining the S&P30s Statements of Belief. See more here.

Statement of Belief #2: Default to Ownership.

In the S&P Values, there are three “default settings” we have for ourselves & that we look for in clients, and the first is ownership. The reasons are simple-

1: Defaulting to ownership helps to drive S&P Value #1 forward through things like owning up to mistake, taking ownership if something fails, and owning your faults.

2: Defaulting to ownership also helps ensure that things get done. Rather than saying “Yeah, someone should do that!” saying, “I’ll take that on.”

Teams with a mentality toward ownership show more emotional maturity and are thus, more effective; not to mention, they're more pleasant to work with ;)
